Microsoft launches free application launcher

If you’re like me and can’t trust all those app-launching programs available from shareware sites, here’s something you might like, an app-launcher from Microsoft Office Labs. The basic idea is to let you launch your most frequently used applications with convenience and less-headache.

So, if you have a desktop like mine, cluttered with all kinda applications, IDEs, games, folders, temporary files etc, wait no more, you wont have to keep searching for your favorite app’s icon on desktop anymore, just drag that favorite program to “Speed Launch’s” Bull’s eye (which happens to right above your system tray). And thats almost all about it.

Speed Launch window can be launched by the Win+C key combination, and you can add as many applications as you want. Five of those applications will appear on the main window (as in the screenshot above), whereas you can use the textbox to type and launch any of the applications you’ve added to Speed Launch.

No PS3 price cut anytime soon. “You’ll be disappointed”, says Sony

Sony responded to the recent rumours about a PS3 price drop by saying those coming to the upcoming Games Convention to hear about a price-drop “will be disappointed”. You heard it peeps, Sony’s pretty confident about its business and seemingly, doesn’t feel the need of dropping prices anytime soon (unless of course, Micrsoft tries givin’ them a tough time by lowering Xbox360 prices first).

There were similar rumours about Xbox360 price drops a few weeks ago, which MS declined happily. Looks like both companies think they are doing great business, with Wii still selling more units each unit than MS & Sony can ever combinely wish.

Good luck Sony & MS, hope to hear something good from you too sometime soon. Oh, and by the way, those of you planning to visit the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany, it’ll be running from August 20th through 22nd.
