RoboCopters learn to fly on their own after watching human pilots fly
Stanford university has been working on autonomous helicopters for a while, and their helicopters are different in the sense that the onboard computers aren’t programmed telling them how to maneuver the helicopters, instead, the helicopters learn from human pilots directly.
The said RoboCopter first watches a human-controlled helicopter, while “watching” that helicopter’s trajectory, it also computes how to further improve the trajectory to its needs. The team involved says the RoboCopter performs and maneuvers much better than the human controlled helicopters. Check out the RoboCopter in motion below.
We need more of such innovations. The day we master how to make robots learn on their own would be our first step to having intelligent robots like in I,Robot (hopefully, MINUS the violence
). What do you think about robots getting intelligent with every passing day? Overall is it good or bad for the mankind?
